This Murano Archimede Seguso sculpture is a beautiful piece of mid-century modern art glass. The sommerso technique creates a layered glass effect and is simply stunning.
This glass pheasant measures 14" from the tip of the beak to the end of the tail. The foot is 3" in diameter, and it weighs 3 lbs 1.2 oz.
It is an original production from the mid 20th century (1941-1969) made on the island of Murano in Italy. The sculpture is perfect for bird lovers or collectors of art glass.
The colors are hard to capture, but the colors in the main photo are the closest to the real life colors. In spite of appearances, it is not neodymium glass.
bIt has no chips, cracks or other flaws, except for a few small bubbles in the glass and a few scratches on the bottom of the foot.
It has a silhouette of a label on the bottom, but is only useful in that is suggests an outline.
I believe this originally was part of a pair. I have seen its mate in photos, but this poor bird is a singleton.
